May Book Haul – So I Went a Little Overboard

So, I hauled 53 books this month >.>

But I mean, I went to YALLWEST, and then my brother got me books from his trip to Portland. And I got way more active in the blogging community and, therefore, learned of so many new books! And then I figured out how to use NetGalley and Edelweiss. And then I had finals so I needed retail therapy. And I had a BookOutlet coupon that I of course needed to use. And it was Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, so I wanted to make it a point to look for books by Asian authors.

I completely believe those are all valid reasons for my book acquiring this month! -nods-

However, although I totally think it’s fine to buy as many books as you want whenever you want as long as it’s not detrimental to your health, I’ve made some rules to restrict myself until November.

But book haul first!

And now for the rules of my sort of book ban that will last until November. I’m trying to restrict my book buying because I’ll be going to Hawaii for a wedding in October and would like to save a little more for it. Space isn’t a problem.

Book Ban Rules:

1. E-arcs are okay.
2. Next in a series/world I just finished are okay.
3. I can buy books with store credit.
4. Trades are okay.
Wish me luck!

Are there any books in my haul that you’re interested in? Have you read any of them? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!
Cya! ^^

    1. Loll!!! I don’t know what went wrong??? I only hauled 10 books last month. But oh well at least my shelves have books on them and they make me happy lolll. I’m glad I can be encouraging lol. And thank you, I think so, too! 🤣

  1. I adored The Bear and the Nightingale, as well as its sequel. It’s such a beautiful and poetic coming-of-age story. When you read it, I recommend reading the glossary in the back of the book first as those names might sound confusing (you may not need to but I heard it helped some 🙂 ). Hope you enjoy it. 🙂

The Beast Player by Nahoko Uehashi sounds really great and Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche is very high on my TBR list. Happy reading! 🙂

    1. The Bear and the Nightingale keeps getting recommended to me because I love Deathless by Catherynne M. Valente, so I’m looking forward to it. Thanks for the tip! I’ll most likely need it.

I’m hoping the Beast Player is really good, and I saw some Americanah quotes so finally wanted to check it out.

Happy reading to you, too, Vera! ^^

  2. Holy smokes, that’s so many books! But I’m seeing some really good ones in there, like The Darkest Minds and Shadow of the Fox! And Seafire AAAAAHHH, that one looks amazing but I haven’t gotten any word on whether I’m approved for it or not.

Enjoy all those books! You’ve got a lot of good stuff ahead! 😁

  3. Wow, this haul is amazing!!! I see why a book buying ban might be needed 😂 I hope you enjoy The Bear and the Nightingale, it’s my all time favorite book. I love it so much. I’m in love with the cover for Monsoon Mansion, but I’m not that into memoirs, so I look forward to hearing what you think of it! I hope it’s amazing, so I can justify cover-buying it, haha.
